Retro & Vintage Tech Collecting

Starting to realize I'm like... actually a retro & vintage tech collector...

I've collected physical media for a long time now - VHS tapes, books, CDs, DVDs, whatever - but I noticed at the beginning of ths Summer that I also specifically collect retro/vintage tech. I feel like all collectors start by wanting one specific item or set of items for personal fulfillment and then devolve into curating our special little hoards and whatnot.

I also had to look up the definitions of vintage and retro since they get kinda flung around wherever - vintage refers to anything 20-99 years old, and retro refers to items that just look or feel old regardless of when they were made.

Thus far, I've collected:

  • Nintendo GameCube (24 years old)
  • Nintendo Wii (will be 20 next year!)
  • PlayStation 4 (12 years old - not vintage, but since the PS5 is already five years old... "outdated"???)
  • Nintendo 2DS (also 12 years old)
  • I'll probably get rid of my PS4 since I'm planning to finally purchase and build a PC this Summer, so it'd be kinda wasteful to also have a stationary console that plays less of the same games.

I do, however, have a wishlist of devices that I'd like to obtain:

  • PSP 3000 OR PS vita (I do NOT need both, but I still have to research which is better for me)
