The current state of the world is a form of torture
Being cogniscient as an individual of being both a victim of the system and guilty of contributing to it is psychological warfare between the classes.
I've witnessed and survived domestic terrorism. I've been disabled by the American military industrial complex. I've been abused and taken advantage of by the medical industry. My cognitive processing and personality have been fundamentally damaged by poverty.
My tuition is being used to bomb brown children halfway across the planet. My taxes are being used to enslave African people to make the technology I must use every day. I attend classes and appointments and meetings and little outings all above the thousands of bodies it cost for me to exist here in this time and place.
In this situation, is hypernormalization the same slippery slope as every other survival tactic? Or is it a momentary coping mechanism that forms one pillar of the foundation that keeps life afloat in times like these?
